How we’re investing in creating a diverse and equitable workplace.
We’re proud to announce our partnership with Base10 Partners—the world’s largest Black-led VC firm—on their Advancement Initiative, a new fund launched with the mission of creating wealth for underrepresented minorities.
Base10 is deeply committed to supporting technology companies and their founders as they work to build more diverse and equitable workplaces. The Advancement Initiative is an extension of this commitment, aiming to create 100,000 scholarships and financial aid awards for diverse and underprivileged students in STEM.
By enabling access to STEM education for underrepresented communities, this initiative will also give organizations that support diverse companies—namely, Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs)—access to the best technology companies in the world.
I joined Base10 to lead the Advancement Initiative because I witnessed the positive impact that attending an HBCU had on my father and my family’s life. This program will not only increase educational opportunities in STEM and generate wealth for underrepresented minority communities, it will also change the future of technology companies for the better.
- Jamison Hill, Partner at Base10
To fund this initiative, Base10 will donate 50% of the earnings from their investments to create scholarships for underprivileged students in the name of its portfolio companies—including “The Attentive Scholarship.”
We know that it takes more than talking to bring about tangible change, and we share Base10's level of dedication to taking action through the Advancement Initiative. As our team continues to grow at a rapid pace, our partnership with Base10 will help ensure that we’re building a truly diverse, inclusive, and equitable company.
We believe the best teams are made up of people who represent varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences—and we want Attentive to be a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered to make valuable contributions.
This stance is reflected in our recruiting goals and the actions we're taking in 2021 and beyond:
- We’re partnering with a number of organizations to get our career opportunities in front of a wider pool of candidates, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.
- We’ll be hosting recruiting events on social media and focusing our promotional efforts on underrepresented talent.
- We’re working diligently to create a stronger internal structure to support our employee resource groups (ERGs). We want these communities to be a place where different identity groups represented at Attentive can find mentorship and receive encouragement from their peers.
