Here’s what two of our new hires want you to know about growing their careers at Attentive—and how to make your mark from the start.

So, you’re thinking about joining Attentive. Maybe you’ve applied, you’re in the thick of the interview process, or contemplating accepting an offer (and we may be biased, but we think you should accept it). Now comes the fun part: jumping in with both feet and making an impact.

Starting a new job can feel overwhelming, exciting, motivating, and nerve-wracking, all at the same time. Joining Attentive will challenge you to drive amazing outcomes and do the best work of your career, while growing personally and professionally. And our team is here to help you every step of the way. We want to show how two of our new hires have already started making an impact and are thriving on their Attentive journey.

Meet our new hires

Shania’s a Sales Development Representative and self-proclaimed Attentive enthusiast. She joined the Sales team in March 2024, and has been Attentive’s #1 fan ever since.

She gushes, “I tell everyone that I work here and they should work here, too. The culture is so great." Shania and her fellow SDRs are responsible for reaching out to prospects, setting up meetings where they can learn more about Attentive’s suite of products.

In her experience, Shania says, her messaging needs to be catchy—“prospects are getting a ton of emails each day, so it’s important to stand out.  I pride myself on being able to capture their attention, even if it’s through humor.”

While Shania connects with top brands every day, Preeti’s making magic over on our Engineering team. She joined the AI Journeys team in early 2024 as a Senior Software Engineer, and works on message orchestration, leveraging data to send the right message at the right time.

Preeti uses a combination of machine learning models to help Attentive send the best possible unique, relevant, and highly personalized message to every subscriber for our customers.

How we foster a supportive onboarding experience

Imagine stepping into a role where you know exactly what success looks like from day one. This was Preeti’s experience at Attentive. Our Engineering roles have a clear one-week, 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day onboarding plan, and is designed to help you through your first few weeks, when you may feel overwhelmed or lost. “The team made it so easy for me to onboard. Everything is well-documented and self-explanatory, so you’re able to quickly get hands-on with our code,” recalls Preeti.

Meanwhile, the Sales team was putting Shania through SDR bootcamp, an intensive three-week training which equipped her with everything she needed to excel in her new role.

The team also provides tons of ongoing support, so you’ll never feel like you’re on your own. Our cohort of mentors and new hire buddies are there to help you along the way, and build your confidence in your contributions as you grow in your role. “Since joining, I’ve gotten the chance to become an onboarding buddy for new hires after me. This was such an important part of my experience, and now I’m able to pay it forward for others,”  Preeti adds.

Learning from inspiring peers & leaders

Think back to the last time you were feeling energized, inspired, and challenged (in a good way) at work. Chances are, it was the people around you who made it all possible. Continuous learning is built into our core values and leadership principles, and there's no shortage of opportunities to pick up on valuable insights from your teammates.

Shania received an early dose of wisdom from her director, who reminded her about the importance of resilience in the competitive world of Sales: “Sometimes things aren’t going to go your way. But there are times when you get lucky, and things work out in your favor. It’s about learning how to balance your sadness and happiness, the highs and lows.” The moral of the story? Accept that while today may be tough, that doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be great. You just have to treat challenges as learning opportunities.

Shania encourages new hires at Attentive, “Be hungry to learn. Embrace the fact that you don’t know everything and let the team be your teachers. The SDR role is the best way to kick off a career, because Sales helps you strengthen so many transferable skills. Plus, there’s a ton of opportunity for growth here.”

Reflecting our core value of Championing the Customer, Preeti jumped in with a similar outlook, coming into new experiences with an open and adaptable mindset. She used her first few months to soak up what was happening around her, and share her perspective from a fresh set of eyes.

“It’s easy to make assumptions when tackling a problem,” says Preeti, “and I kept this in mind as I looked at data and listened to peers and customers. Since starting, she’s picked up little things from each of her team members just by being open and listening to feedback.

Her secret, Preeti says is to, “stay naturally curious and adaptable.” She adds, “Often, we tackle one aspect of a problem, but soon realize there are multiple layers to it. Success comes when everyone is open to exploring new ideas and suggestions.”

We’re building something big together.

We’re solving critical problems for our customers through our AI-powered SMS and email marketing platform. But we didn’t start with a fully developed AI journeys decision engine. We worked hard, and the team and our products evolved. Reflecting on her journey, Preeti says, “Attentive had a basic decision engine. And now, here we are, with a robust set of features and our recently launched AI Journeys. Being right at the heart of our evolution and announcing it to the world has been both extremely rewarding.”

Shania has found similar fulfilling experiences through opportunities for mentorship. “I’ve been coached by the best manager I’ve ever had, and now I have new hires leaning on me for support. I’m able to expand my impact and help them grow by giving them the feedback I was given when I started,” she says.

How we help each other thrive

When teams rally as each other’s champions and collaborate effectively, they achieve remarkable outcomes together. This is at the heart of our core value, Be One Unstoppable Team. We set high standards for ourselves, but we always find ways to celebrate and support one another.

When asked about a time she felt like she was thriving, Shania exclaimed, “When I hit quota! But in all seriousness, it’s not just about selling. It’s about getting to win as a team. The other day, I booked four meetings in a row, and the whole team–not just my team of 10–were all shouting me out. My director even personally messaged me to congratulate me, and it was such a happy moment.”

Similarly, when asked the same question, Preeti explained, “The most gratifying is feeling a sense of belonging.” Her team’s hybrid work model brings everyone to our San Francisco office a few days each week. These opportunities for in-person connection and collaboration help build meaningful working relationships, and a sense of community that Preeti values.

Now, write your own Attentive success story

You’ve heard how Shania and Preeti have ramped up and become valued members of the Attentive team. Feeling inspired to take the plunge yourself? We look for self-motivated individuals who are hungry to learn and make an impact.

Preeti summed up this ownership mindset perfectly: “Share your perspective! My team ‌has been very accepting of my suggestions and questions. Come in with a sense of ownership, even if it's not ‘your’ project. It's your team's project, and we're all working together to reach the same goal.”

At Attentive, we pride ourselves on our freedom and ability to imagine and build big things – together. While no two team member experiences are identical, having a culture that supports the collective success of our team enables each of us to do our best work and provide the unique value we were hired to contribute. Whether you have been with us for six days, months, or years, Attentive offers the opportunity to learn, build, and thrive together in support of creating unmatched value for our customers.

Are you ready to be part of a team where your ideas matter and your contributions can make an impact? At Attentive, we’re always looking for passionate individuals to join us. Explore our open roles.
